The Star Inn The City is an award winning Brasserie-style restaurant nestled on the banks of the River Ouse in the heart of York.

Since opening our doors in 2013 our ethos has been simple: we aim to bring a little taste of the countryside to the city, offering diners the chance to enjoy exquisite modern cuisine in an idyllic riverside setting all year round.

Inspired by the vision of Andrew Pern of the Michelin-starred Star Inn at Harome, we use the finest, locally-sourced ingredients to create scrumptious seasonal dishes. We also proudly offer an extensive drinks menu featuring wines, local ales and speciality cocktails.

Testament to the passion, dedication and commitment of our team, The Star Inn is widely recognised as one of the best restaurants in York city centre. In 2022 we scooped the prestigious Open Table Diners’ Choice award and in 2021 we were presented with an AA Rosette for culinary excellence.

For the past two years we have also been featured in the Michelin Guide, and The Star Inn is showcased in the 2020 edition of The Good Food Guide.

The Star Inn the City provides the perfect setting for all occasions; from a quick catch up with friends over a few drinks through to birthday, anniversary and graduation get-togethers.

Situated right on the riverbank, close to the historic Lendal Bridge and Tower, sit back, relax, and enjoy wonderful views as boats pass up and down the river.

Our restaurant is within easy walking distance of York Station. If you’re driving, you will find The Star Inn The City located a short distance from Marygate Carpark- which can be accessed via Museum Gardens or the riverside path.
